Dowd and Guild Inc. Scholarship
Founded in 1998, the Dowd and Guild Scholarship was created to support and assist the private sector by expanding educational opportunities for students in need.  

Scholarship criteria include:

  • Commitment to educational goals
  • Academic achievement documented by a high school/college transcript
  • Participation in school leadership and extracurricular activities
  • Commitment to the community through involvement in volunteer activities
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Personal essay assessment

Eligible students must be a United States citizen, must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing, must be enrolled in or entering a 2 or 4 year undergraduate college program and must be a California resident.

In order to apply, student should complete the scholarship application, submit a personal essay addressing each of the scholarship criteria and submit an official high school or college transcript.  Eligible candidates will be scheduled for an interview at the Dowd and Guild Corporate Offices.  The scholarship is a $1,000 award and is paid in four quarterly installments.  

Students are required to updated Dowd and Guild quarterly as to their academic progress and leadership activities in order to receive their next installment.  Scholarships are awarded throughout the year so applicants may apply at any time.

Paint Donation Program
Dowd and Guild sponsors and administers the Paint Donation Program, providing free paint to worthwhile charities around the world.  Since the beginning of the program in 1996, over 800,000 gallons of paint have been distributed.  The paint is a result of the generous donations of a major paint manufacturer in the Western United States.

Qualified organizations must be a 501(c)3 organization and must use the paint for a worthwhile, charitable project.  Resale of the paint is not allowed.  For more information, visit the Paint Donation Website.

Dowd and Guild Inc.'s  commitment to charities around the world begins at home through the support of the Mt. Diablo Habitat for Humanity program.  Dowd and Guild, Inc. sponsored the building of a third Habitat for Humanity home in Oakley, California for a low income family.  Construction started in the spring of 2004 and completed in March 2005.  Dowd and Guild employees worked side-by-side with the future homeowners to help build the home making home ownership a reality for a few families.
