What We Do

Dowd and Guild Inc. is a chemical and container distributor servicing the needs of the chemical processing industry in the western United States.  Tom Dowd and Howard Guild founded the company in 1986 and share equal ownership of the corporation.

Our corporate offices are located in San Ramon, California with a regional sales office in Cerritos, California.  Stocking facilities are strategically located to serve customers west of the Rocky Mountains.  We can provide same day shipment from these facilities which are located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Phoenix.

The wide range of chemicals and containers we sell has allowed us to expand the markets we serve to include coatings, ink, adhesives, resins, building products, plastics and specialty chemicals.  Consequently, we have become a significant supplier to our customers in all aspects of their business.

Our salespeople are experienced and technically trained, selling specialty chemicals and providing quality feedback to our suppliers.  We have nine outside sales people, dividing the territory into four markets: Northern California and Nevada, Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Arizona and New Mexico and Colorado and Utah. We also have 2 inside sales personnel developing business for house accounts, as well as following up on customers that have not purchased products recently.

Our customer service department, considered by our top customers to be "the best in the West", is located in San Ramon, California where our customers call toll free to place orders.  This staff of four is always available to assist with an order or provide information about a product.  Our company has grown significantly since 1986 but our dedication to providing the highest level of customer service and growing our supplier's business has not changed.
