Dowd and Guild Inc. Scholarship
The Dowd and Guild Inc. Scholarship was created to support and assist the private sector by expanding educational opportunities for students in need. Since its inception in 1998 over ninety scholarships have been awarded.  To be eligible, the student must be a United States citizen, currently enrolled in or entering a two or four year undergraduate college program, be in good academic standing and a California resident.

Eligible candidates will be scheduled for an interview at the Dowd and Guild Inc. corporate offices.  The scholarship is a $1,000 award and is paid in four quarterly installments. Students are required to update Dowd and Guild Inc. quarterly as to their academic progress and leadership activities in order to receive their next installment.  Scholarships are awarded throughout the year so applicants may apply at any time.

To apply, students should complete and mail the scholarship application, a personal essay addressing each of the scholarship criteria and an official high school or college transcript.

Paint Donation Program
Dowd and Guild Inc. sponsors and administers the Paint Donation Program providing free paint to worthwhile charities around the world.  Since the beginning of the program in 1996 over one million gallons of paint have been distributed.  This program exists because of the generous donations from a major paint manufacturer in the Western United States.

Qualified organizations must be credentialed as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and must use the paint for worthwhile charitable projects.  Resale of the paint is not allowed.  For more information, visit the Paint Donation Web site.

World Impact Oakland
World Impact Oakland is one of the non-profits Dowd and Guild Inc. employees enjoy helping most.   Employees have served breakfast to the homeless and low income residents of West Oakland’s Prescott community on many occasions.   An estimated 200 members of the local neighborhood are served a free breakfast each Saturday morning.   The most rewarding part of the experience for employees is to reach out and visit with the members of the community.    World Impact also offers job search assistance, pregnancy counseling, church services and community activities designed to building a safe and stable environment in West Oakland, California.    Dowd and Guild Inc. also donated a used but reliable van to World Impact, which allows residents to be shuttled to community activities and children to summer camp.
